The Provincial Museum of Fine Arts is the premier museum of Badajoz , set in two 19th-century palaces right next to the Plaza de la Soledad. The MUBA architectural complex features a large interior patio communicating with the three museum's buildings.
It displays more than 2000 pieces of paintings, sculptures, engravings and drawings, its collection dedicated to Extremaduran visual arts comprise an essential treasure for the regional and national cultural heritage. Some of the Extremaduran artists featured in the collection are: Ortega Muñoz, Ángel Duarte Timoteo Pérez Rubio, Isaías Díaz, Adelardo Covarsí, Antonio Juez, Eugenio Hermoso, Pérez-Jiménez, Torre-Isunza, Aurelio Cabrera, Bermuda Mateos, Felipe Checa, Nicolás Megía, Francisco de Zurbarán and Luis de Morales.

The Museum also contains the work of prestigious Spanish artists including José Nogué, Oroz Lacalle, Sorolla, Gutiérrez Solana, Mongrell, Paternina, Ramírez Ibáñez, Álvarez Dumont and Eduardo Rosales, Francisco de Goya, Pablo Picasso, Tapies and more.
