Painting a plaster glass: NO MORE PLASTIC

Painting a plaster glass: no more plastic

In this workshop we want to create an object sculpture. Starting from a common object we want to raise awareness of the harmful use of plastic. Instead we are creating an object made of plaster and artistically altered to remind us of the dangers of using plastic.

Materials

Cup made of plaster: Solvent: transfer medium

Brush

Laser-printed image (printed on regular paper)

Watercolour, markers, coloured pens

Tape to hold the photocopy in place

Step 1

Tape the image in place on the plaster cup. Make sure it is secure enough it won’t move around.

Plaster is a smooth surface and porous material.

Step 2

Now dampen the photocopy with the solvent. Press the solvent onto the image, make sure that you do this over the entire image and that you don't miss anything, and make sure not to over saturate the paper.

Let the paper dry, this should take a few seconds. You can undo some of the tape to reveal the image to ensure it is transferring well. Then repeat this as needed, it may take a few times.

Step 3

Remove the print from the plaster and see your transferred image

Step 4

Use the watercolour, markers and coloured pens to give the print your personal touch.
