Acting

Acting is the art of telling a story in plays, movies, and shows. Acting can be entertainment or can show a message. Here at DHS there are many elective courses. Specifically there is Acting 1&2 which are classes taught by Mr. Bitter. Mr. Bitter has been a teacher for 5 years and has been teaching here at DHS for 4 of those years. Acting 1&2  are meant to provide students with the opportunity to learn about what theater is and what acting is. It is meant to provide students with skills that they can use outside of the classroom like public speaking, listening, and cooperation. Students are currently learning about the voice and how to convey emotions through it! Mr.Bitter chose to teach this class because he loves sacting and it helped him through a lot of hard times in school. What he loves the most about Acting is it provides students with a sort of creative expression and outlet. Students have a lot of emotions and learning to control them or convey them properly is an important life skill. His favorite unit to teach is contemporary acting unit based on Stanislavsky's Acting Methods.

Happy spring

As the end of the quarter approaches with spring break just around the corner, students are feeling a mix of emotions. They’re relieved to finish the workload but also a bit worn out from all the hard work. It’s a rise of reflection on the challenges faced and the growth experienced, both academically and personally. With spring break on the horizon, there's a sense of excitement and anticipation for some well deserved rest and relaxation. It’s like a light at the end of the tunnel after giving it their all during the quarter.

Manage your time, prioritize tasks and avoid procrastination. Study smart, find study techniques that work best for you, like making flashcards or writing notes. Lastly, seek help when needed, don’t hesitate to ask your teacher for help. They are there to help you and make sure you succeed. Have fun and save spring break and come back strong and ready to end the year on a good note.

photography

Ms. Hofer, a dedicated photography teacher, is passionate about her work, and believes that photography is an inspiring class. Inquiring about his affinity for photography, Ms. Hofer expressed, “I like teaching photography because of my passion for the arts. I specifically appreciate photography because of the design and compositional considerations involved, as well as the creative potential of the medium." She appreciates that she can teach photography at DHS and share her knowledge with her students.

In Ms. Hofer's class they are learning about macro photography, compositional and technical considerations of the genre. When asked about how this class will influence students in the future, Ms. Hofer emphasized, “I think photography as a skill is very helpful for students to have, no matter the route their individual lives take. This class teaches students how to be observers of the world and to better appreciate the world around you.” Ms. Hofer’s dedication and focus on teaching her students to observe the outside would contribute to her effectiveness as a photography teacher. Undoubtedly, she serves as an inspiring figure, encouraging her students to tell stories through photos.
