 Baseball

Baseball season is starting and I spoke with Austin DeVries and Zachary (Ziggy) Wagle about how they felt about making the team, during conditioning, and the tryout process. Austin states “I tried my best during conditioning and felt excited when I saw my name on the list” while Ziggy said “I’m a starter and hit well, so I believe I contributed a lot” The baseball team won against Four Corners on February 19th  scoring 13-0 ending in a forfeit from Four Corners while on February 22nd they played Victory Christian Academy with a mind-boggling score of 18-5 in favor of your Spartans baseball team.

Here is the team after their amazing win!!!

Softball

As of this year we are still building the program. We are wanting the girls to find a love for this sport like we have and we are doing this by having vigorous practices and team bonding days. Our team is looking better than ever this year! We are planning a lot of fundraising to hopefully have a field and a place to have home games next year. We want to continue to grow this program by getting more girls to join and working on the fundamentals of the game. We are very excited to be playing this year and looking forward to many more years to come!

Girls Lacrosse

This year we can't wait to see what is in store for the girls lacrosse team. With a team filled with new players, it is a tough adjustment, However, no matter the challenge these girls take it on the chin and keep pushing. On February 13th and 15th, the girls played 2 powerhouse schools in the girls lacrosse scene here in central Florida: Bartow High School and Lake Wales High School. While they faced a difficult loss to Lake Wales High School (20-1) one player stopped their forward march and kept the game from being a shut-out finish: Captain Ashley Marshall. Ashley says “What I love about lacrosse is that it’s something I've always been interested in and it turns out that I love the sport and it makes me want to become a better player each practice or game”, for anyone interested in joining the team her advice is “ it is so fun to play and you get to meet such good people. The sport is easy to learn if you put your mind to it”.
