Topic 2: Dangers of addictive drugs

The impacts of addictive substances on a person, their family and the society can be grouped

as follows.


1. Impact on physical and mental health:

It will affect the body’s systems and cause health problems, such as weight loss, lowered immunity, unstable character, depression, emotional instability, delirium. Sometimes, users might feel lonely and sad, and neglect body hygiene.

2. Impact on the economy:

It wastes a lot of money to buy drugs. When users are exhausted, they cannot work. This means they will lack income which causes lost money for themselves, their family and the government.

3. Impact on the society:

It will reduce a family’s happiness and create additional problems. The family might become disliked by neighbors. Moreover, crimes like pilfering, robbing, harming and killing others for money might arise. Users will become a burden to society because they are not able to work.

4. Impact on government:

It is the government’s duty to treat and cure drug addicts. It is also their duty to suppress the trade with additive drugs which wastes a large portion of the budget because the number of crimes is increasing.






Ways to prevent the addictive drug use.

1. Listen to parents, senior relatives, teachers and well-wishers.

2. Search advice from parents, teachers, senior relatives and well-wishers. Do not suppress or dispel problems by taking addictive substances or using it to anger parents

3. Stay away from drug addicts, sellers or producers.

4. Identify drug addicts, sellers or producers to seniors or police immediately.

5. Do not support a drug addicted friend, do not let them borrow money or use your place etc. Encourage the friend to seek their parents’ advice to be treated immediately.

6. Acquire knowledge and understanding about the impacts and dangers of addictive substances to protect yourself and your intimate friends.

7. Do not easily believe advertisements, believe in any advice, or pretend to be above the drugs.

8. Do not use hard drugs without a doctor’s recommendation.

9. If in doubt whether you are addicted to drugs or not, you should consult your parents or seniors immediately.

10. Hold fast to the doctrine of your religion because every religion wants a person to do good.
