Another big thank you to all the parent volunteers and our wonderful Specials teachers that all worked so hard to make this event a success. We could not do it without you all!

We ask that you donate new or gently used children's winter coats to a drop-off bin found inside NRE by the Front office. Donations will be collected until Wednesday, October 5th and will be made available for families that would like to take home a coat on October 7th.

Dear NRE Community -
I LOVE the Multicultural Fair!!! Why do I love it so much? I love it because everyone stands tall and proud. Everyone is there to celebrate all cultures, to try new foods, explore new traditions, and learn about others. My parents had a booth this year which was the Spain booth. They could not believe how many people came to celebrate all of the cultures and how polite our students were when they came to talk with them.
Thank you to Dita Merritt and Chelsea Davis who were in charge of the event and to all the Specials teachers for all of the work that went into getting it all set up. I loved every part of the evening from the decorations to the singing and dancing to the foods and of the attire. I spoke with many parents and grandparents that were in awe of the amount of representation from around the world. It truly takes each one of us to start and continue a kindness movement. 'What you look for, you will see' is one of my favorite quotes. Last night I saw happiness, peace, and joy. Last night I saw hope and love in future generations. I saw kindness and acceptance for each culture. Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity.
This next week is a big one for our 6th graders. On Monday through Wednesday, we will be going to explore the outdoors. We are hoping the weather is not as wet as the forecast is predicting it to be so that we can still go zip-lining, geocaching, participate in archery, and more. I look forward to watching our sixth graders push themselves physically and mentally and I can't wait to share pictures with you next week. Wish us luck!
I hope you have a great weekend and enjoy some down time.

September is Suicide Prevention Month
Suicide prevention is important every day of the year. National Suicide Prevention Month gives us an opportunity to shine a special, encouraging light on this topic that affects us all, and send a clear, hopeful message that help is available, and suicide can be prevented.
Youth who are contemplating suicide frequently give warning signs of their distress. Family members, caregivers, teachers, and friends are in a key position to pick up on signs and get help. Most important is to never take these warning signs lightly or promise to keep them secret. When all adults and students in the school community are committed to making suicide prevention a priority—and are empowered to take the correct actions—we can help youth before they engage in behavior with irreversible consequences.
The Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides 24/7, free & confidential support and be reached simply by calling or texting 988 or chatting 988lifeline.org.
For more resources regarding suicide prevention, visit the Suicide Prevention Resource Center or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
