2022 Fun Run
Our biggest fundraiser of the year is coming up on August 31st! This year, for the first time, the event is organized solely by your PTA, which means 100% of the donations stay with the school and benefit our students. Your donations go toward teachers and specials supplies, online resources, books for classrooms, teacher appreciation, community events, field trip transportation and much more. We have amazing individual and school-wide prizes (see flyer for details) Fundraising starts next week! Spread the word among your family and friends and help your student raise money for NRE!

Dear NRE Community -
I cannot even begin to share how happy it made me to see all the families and staff at the Back to School Carnival! Thank you so much to our fabulous PTA for putting on such a fun event. I have uploaded some pictures of the craziness of the dunk tank below. A shout out to Mac Goldwasser, Irma Morgione, Amanda Harvey, Susan McKinzie, and Techie Beckie for sitting in the tank! It was so fun watching the faces of the kids, parents, and even my husband laughing at us getting soaked.
Our next major event coming up is the Fun Run this Wednesday. Students will run/walk with their classes, and we hope you are able to come watch and cheer. Our PTA is running this event as well, and it is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Did you know that our PTA donated about $17,000 for resources and $12,000 for classroom needs to NRE? We couldn't do what we do without your generous donations.
After the Fun Run, we have Multicultural Night. This takes place on September 29 from 5pm - 7pm. You will see sign-ups in the PTA section if you would like to have a booth. I am excited because this year my parents are going to host a Spain booth because my great-grandmother came over from Madrid, Spain. My cousins are English teachers in Madrid, and I dearly love learning about other people's cultures and sharing my own. A booth can look however you would like, from crafts to facts to food or clothing and artifacts. To make it even more special, Mary in the Library is creating a recipe book so please share your recipes with us to be included. We hope you have your calendars marked for this special event!
On Tuesday during the DCSD Board Meeting, NRE was recognized for 40 years of excellence! Erin Lehnert (Assistant Principal) and Megan Rust (former NRE student and 4th grade teacher) and Mila, Maple, Toulouse, Ferris, Kai, Cayden, Charlie, Cooper, and Emma were celebrated by the board and cabinet. It was so important for us to include students and staff because all of us continue to make a difference. Below you will see a picture of the celebration as well as our overall School Digger score which ranks NRE 19 out of the 921 Colorado elementary schools.
Lastly, I wanted to mention the three lightning dismissals we have had this year. This is not normal. Typically we have one lightning dismissal per school year, and we haven't had many since COVID hit. We think we were most successful with Thursday's lightning dismissal. As I type this, I'm watching the weather for today's dismissal (Friday) and hoping we don't have another one. The main things you need to know are as follows:
3:25 - ALL Kindie Siblings report to Kindie (and stay). Parents can pick up from kindergarten classrooms IF they have a kindergarten student.
3:30 - Kids can go to their parents if they are outside of the classroom doors (until 3:35). Bus students are released to the front of the school to ride the bus.
3:35 - Last names beginning with A - Q go to Gym and last names beginning with R - Z will go to Cafeteria.
When the last car goes through the carloop, all remaining students will call their parents from the main office to be picked up.
Yesterday, we were able to get all kids to their parents within 22 minutes. Obviously this will take longer if have pouring rain or a large pools of water for students to walk through. We appreciate your patience as we continue to improve our systems.
I hope you have stuck with me for this long report but there were so many things to cover. Enjoy your weekend and get ready for an amazing Fun Run on Wednesday!

Hello Northridge!
I am going to be putting together a Recipe book for our MultiCultural Night. I would love to include all of the many cultures at NRE.
Please consider sending me a favorite recipe or two coming from your family ethnicity. You can send it to me by email (mpeck@dcsdk12.org) or drop a hard copy at the office and I will make it all look pretty for the book. :). Deadline is September 15th.
Example:
Family: Peck family (kids names and grades)
Category: Sides/Bread
Country of Origin: Ireland
Recipe: Ingredients and Instructions
Story:(if you have one)
My Grandmother Kelly used to make this for us every time we would visit them. We loved to slather lots of butter on them and eat it warm. Yum!
(Picture if possible - See picture to the side)
Hope you can join us in making our Multicultural Recipe Book a huge success!
Thank you,
Mary Peck
We want to get our Box Tops program up and running again. It is now digital and super easy! Just download the app, (pick NRE) scan your receipts and voila, you are done!
