2022 Fun Run
Our biggest fundraiser of the year is coming up on August 31st! This year, for the first time, the event is organized solely by your PTA, which means 100% of the donations stay with the school and benefit our students. Get your sneakers ready and get excited for more details to come!
NRE PTA receives around $400 each year from Amazon Smile courtesy of our great NRE community. We want to double that number by the end of next year and need your support! When you shop at Smile.Amazon.com, Amazon Smile donates 0.5% of the purchase price back to Northridge PTA. All you have to do is click the link below and choose Northridge PTA as your charity of choice. Make sure the word SMILE is in front of Amazon to ensure your purchase is credited back to us. We appreciate the 5 minutes this will take you to set up! Click Here to link to Amazon Smile
Purchase SCRIPS gift cards to pay your monthly expenses such groceries and gas. Depending on the retailer, NRE can receive anywhere from 1% to 5% of your purchase. A $500 grocery card could mean $5 to $25 for our school.
Retailers include: Safeway, Target, Walmart, Home Depot, and many more! Join Scrips with program code: 55D136EB54266.

Thank you to all of you who attended the first SAC Meeting of the year. If you missed it or want to look at the documents again, please see the following:
SAC Agenda - Topics covered during the meeting
SAC Presentation - Google slides of the presentation
SAC Recording - Passcode: 20$0*U*r
Our next SAC meeting will be held on September 9th at 7:30am inside the NRE library, and is also offered virtually via Zoom.
We are very excited to welcome Matt Reynolds as a guest speaker for our September meeting. Have you ever wondered how schools are funded? Mr. Reynolds will be presenting information on DCSD funding and as he has been a leader within the district since 2013, he is also a wealth of information in many other areas. We hope you are able to join us for this very important session.

Dear NRE Community -
It has been wonderful to see the smiles on kids' faces and welcome them back to NRE to start the 2022-2023 school year. I absolutely love having students and staff back at school!
We have a new program this year called Junior Recess Coaches (JRCs) who are 5th and 6th graders that applied and were accepted to be a leader for the 1st and 2nd grade recesses. These students came in early before the beginning of the school year to be trained on playground games, minor injuries, making friends, and solving minor disputes. They have been a wonderful addition to recess and we appreciate their leadership.
Today we had our first fire drill of the school year and the students did amazing! Everyone got out safely, listened to instructions with the teacher, and were rewarded with a popsicle at the end of the drill. It is shocking to me that we can get 571 students with approximately 70 staff members out of the building and accounted for in just under 6 minutes. Great job everyone!
As we look toward next week, we are hopeful students will adjust to the routine of getting up for school and going to bed earlier. I know I was exhausted at the end of the week just from the pure energy and excitement of the start of the school year. Kids, parents, and staff will want to save their energy a little bit for next week and the Back To School Carnival that will take place on Friday. Please come and meet other families, dunk a teacher or two in the dunk tank, and watch as kids run with smiles on their faces with their friends on the playground, through the bounce house, and to the Kona Ice truck.
I look forward to a great year with you all and the learning that will happen!
