DCSD is conducting a survey to better understand elementary school staff and parent perceptions of our new core reading programs Wonders and Benchmark (Northridge Elementary uses Wonders). DCSD Communications will be sending the survey to elementary school staff and families directly before the end of this week, however, schools are also sharing this link as well. The survey will close on Friday, November 18. Please only fill out the survey once. The survey link can be found HERE.
DCSD hired Hanover Research to administer this survey. The data gathered will be for research purposes only: all information received will be maintained on a confidential basis by Hanover Research and will only be reported to Douglas County School District in an anonymized form (i.e., name and identifying information such as race will not be shared with the DCSD or tied to individual responses). In order to maintain anonymity, respondents should not use their name or other identifying information within open-ended question responses.

Dear NRE Community -
I was so honored today to be amongst some of the finest veterans! Today we celebrated with breakfast burritos, fruit, coffee and juice but more importantly we celebrated over 324.5 years of combined service. We had men and women who served in many different areas of our forces.
We had three men who served in the Vietnam War, two who were fighter pilots, and one who received a purple heart. We had men and women who have served in Vietnam, Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and one that will head to Syria in the Spring. We had people who protected our homeland and ran into prison riots. There were many stories that weren't even told. I cannot express my gratitude for their service for our freedom.
The most powerful part (in my opinion) was when we stood together clapping for all of the families and soldiers and then we said the pledge of allegiance together. When we come together for the greater good, we do amazing things. I simply cannot express the love in my heart for the people that put their lives on the line in order for us to enjoy our freedom.
I hope you take the time to call a veteran and thank them this weekend. I hope you spend a moment and spread kindness. Do good in the world and love on one another.
