Hello Northridge!
I am going to be putting together a Recipe book for our MultiCultural Night. I would love to include all of the many cultures at NRE.
Please consider sending me a favorite recipe or two coming from your family ethnicity. You can send it to me by email (mpeck@dcsdk12.org) or drop a hard copy at the office and I will make it all look pretty for the book. :). Deadline is September 15th.
Example:
Family: Peck family (kids names and grades)
Category: Sides/Bread
Country of Origin: Ireland
Recipe: Ingredients and Instructions
Story:(if you have one)
My Grandmother Kelly used to make this for us every time we would visit them. We loved to slather lots of butter on them and eat it warm. Yum!
(Picture if possible - See picture to the side)
Hope you can join us in making our Multicultural Recipe Book a huge success!
Thank you,
Mary Peck
We want to get our Box Tops program up and running again. It is now digital and super easy! Just download the app, (pick NRE) scan your receipts and voila, you are done!

2022 Fun Run
Our biggest fundraiser of the year is coming up on August 31st! This year, for the first time, the event is organized solely by your PTA, which means 100% of the donations stay with the school and benefit our students. Your donations go toward teachers and specials supplies, online resources, books for classrooms, teacher appreciation, community events, field trip transportation and much more. We have amazing individual and school-wide prizes (see flyer for details) Fundraising starts next week! Spread the word among your family and friends and help your student raise money for NRE!
NRE PTA receives around $400 each year from Amazon Smile courtesy of our great NRE community. We want to double that number by the end of next year and need your support! When you shop at Smile.Amazon.com, Amazon Smile donates 0.5% of the purchase price back to Northridge PTA. All you have to do is click the link below and choose Northridge PTA as your charity of choice. Make sure the word SMILE is in front of Amazon to ensure your purchase is credited back to us. We appreciate the 5 minutes this will take you to set up! Click Here to link to Amazon Smile
Purchase SCRIPS gift cards to pay your monthly expenses such groceries and gas. Depending on the retailer, NRE can receive anywhere from 1% to 5% of your purchase. A $500 grocery card could mean $5 to $25 for our school.
Retailers include: Safeway, Target, Walmart, Home Depot, and many more! Join Scrips with program code: 55D136EB54266.

Our next SAC meeting will be held on September 9th at 7:30am inside the NRE library, and is also offered virtually via Zoom.
We are very excited to welcome Matt Reynolds as a guest speaker for our September meeting. Have you ever wondered how schools are funded? Mr. Reynolds will be presenting information on DCSD funding and as he has been a leader within the district since 2013, he is also a wealth of information in many other areas. We hope you are able to join us for this very important session.
Click here to visit the NRE SAC Home page for more information on upcoming meetings.
Dear NRE Community -
Two weeks of school have already flown by, and there is so much excitement coming in these next couples of weeks.
We hope you are able to join us for the Back to School Carnival that is happening right now (Friday 5pm - 7pm)! I'll be in the dunk tank at 6:45pm so please come soak me, and see if my hair flattens with the water. I really love this event because we can see our community coming together; new families are meeting returning families and vice versa. I adore watching kids play, laugh, and skip with friends. I'm super thankful that we live in a community where people do want to spend time together, at their elementary school, building memories. I'll try and take pictures tonight and post them on next week's Weekly Blast.
This next week we have Picture Day on Tuesday, Watch Dog Dad meeting Thursday, and then the following week we have Cold Stone Night followed by the Fun Run. It's going to be busy but these are such fun events, and we love that we can share them with all of you. If you haven't already, please see the first section with all the Important Dates for our school year and mark your calendars so you don't miss out.
I wanted to thank you all for your patience on Monday with our lightning dismissal. I know it was a crazy time and everyone was trying to get to their children as soon as possible. We were able to get all students picked up in the car loop within 42 minutes, which was fairly good. We are proposing some changes with our routines and as soon as we finalize them, we will let you know what they are and hopefully it will help our process even more. We are forever learning, and getting 580 students out of the building at one time is truly an art.
I hope you have a great weekend - I will be doing a college tour for my oldest who is a senior this year. Where does the time go?
