Dear NRE Community -
Happy Friday! It's hard to believe but we only have one more week until Spring Break. This upcoming week we have parent teacher conferences so if you haven't signed up, please see the sign-up link in the first section of this weekly blast. We look forward to sharing your child's progress with you.
I forgot to mention last week how awesome our two nights of the talent show(s) were with students performing. Not only is it extremely brave to get up on stage but it takes a ton of work to practice singing, dancing, playing instruments etc. in order to even be there. I was so impressed by our students' talent. There are a lot of things that I love about Northridge and there are things that go on that many won't even know about because they happen behind the scenes. This year we had a 6th grader perform for her first talent show ever! Every year she thought about performing but this year, she finally was able to find the courage in a new school (NRE) to get on stage. This is the type of community we have at NRE where kids feel more courageous stepping outside of their comfort zone and students pick one another up to have them try something new.
We had two students represent NRE leading thethe Colorado State General Assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance at the State Capitol. Caleb and Trevor were dressed in suits looking exceptionally well dressed! When they got back to school they had changed clothes and their friends made comments like "You wore THAT to the capitol?" They had to explain that they didn't wear soccer shorts and hoodies to the capitol :) Thank you for representing NRE so well; what an honor!
We finished the week off with Breakfast with Buddies this morning and it was great to see all the families starting their day with us. Thank you to our PTA for all of the work behind the scenes, specifically our Board who spends a ton of hours before and after school setting up and taking down for these events. We had some additional helpers today too so thank you to the parents and grandparents who helped clean up tables, chairs, and centerpieces so we could give Mrs. Ivie her gym back for classes.
I hope you enjoy your weekend, take time to unwind from electronics, and take time for yourself.
Much love,
Katie
