PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Tomorrow marks 100 days wiser, 100 days stronger and 100 days closer as a Solar Family. I cannot wait to celebrate the day with our girls. We are 100 days more grateful for the support of all of our solar Families.
As we move into Black History Month, often we reflect on our own experiences growing up. Most of us were taught about the civil rights movement and slavery. While it is important to speak truth about these significant historical events, it is also imperative that we focus on the the many accomplishments and celebrations of leaders throughout history. The key is to not only acknowledge the hard truths about black history but also to help all of our students feel empowered about their identities and culture. All students should engage in lessons whose narratives aren’t always steeped in oppression and struggle." Black leaders have created masterpieces, innovated extraordinary technology and continue to be some of the most influential revolutionaries. As we engage in learning experiences this month, and throughout the year, we will make a concerted effort to ensure that our trailblazers understand that Black history is American History full of rich culture and full human experiences.
Due to anticipated inclement weather, all Dallas ISD schools and administrative offices will be closed Thursday, Feb. 3 and Friday, Feb. 4. Schools will not be expected to make up these days. For additional updates, please visit dallasisd.org or the district’s social media channels.
Stay warm and safe, and we look forward to reopening schools and offices next week.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! In an effort to streamline the dismissal change procedure and lessen wait times when calling the front office, parents will be asked to submit dismissal changes via Google Form beginning January 5. The form will be closed daily at 3pm. Parents needing to make an emergency change after this time should call the office at 972-749-4300.
