A Newsletter for Families of Solar Preparatory School for Girls
A message from
Principal Santos...
We are off to an incredible start this year! Our halls are buzzing with curiosity, leadership, and hard work, and we are so proud of the growth we’re already seeing in our students. We are also thrilled to share that our campus has been rated an A campus for the third year in a row! This achievement is a true reflection of the dedication of our students, staff, families, and volunteers to create an experience, environment, and community that is like none other.
Thank you for your continued support—we have a few things we need your help with. Read everything below to stay in the know.

GET TO SCHOOL ON TIME
One HUGE thing all families can help us all with is getting to school on time each day!
School starts promptly at 8:00 AM.
Students should be arriving by 7:55 at the latest in order to walk to their morning spot on time.
We have a very limited amount of staff who can help with entry procedures. Once 8:00 hits, teachers are needed with their students and can no longer stay at their morning duty posts. This leaves us with very few staff members who can help with students entering the building.
Middle school students must go through the metal detectors. This system requires at least 6 staff members to help. For every student we have to check-in after 8:00 am, we are utilizing people that are needed in classrooms and to help monitor students as the school day has begun.
Help us by including your child in their morning routines. Students should be helping to pack their lunches, set their clothes out, get their backpacks prepared by the door, etc. If they are currently not helping, add one small thing they can do each week to help you and set a goal for this school year.
For the first two weeks, we have been flexible, allowing the tardy time to extend to 8:05. Beginning this week, if you are dropping a student off after 8:00, please plan to walk them into the building to sign the tardy log.
We appreciate your support with this and look forward to seeing students at school by 8:00!
CAR LINE IMPORTANT UPDATES
👏🏽 🚗 TO ALL CAR LINE FAMILIES DURING PICK-UP:
We need you to make sure that you ANNOUNCE when you arrive at the school.
It REALLY helps if you do NOT announce until you are at least on Manett.
Announcing allows us to put kids in order and have them ready.
When you announce too early, students get frustrated with having to stand by a cone in the sun for longer than necessary.
When you don't announce at all, our staff members have to scramble to find your student and this holds up the line for EVERYONE. Help us make this system smooth!
Visit the front office if you need help setting up PikMyKid or figuring out how to announce.
Follow the link here for all the PikMyKId information.
🚏🚌 CARLINE DROP-OFF AT THE BUS LANE: For the safety of our students, please do not allow students to exit the cars on their own on Manett street. We do not have the staff to supervise the crosswalk, and there have been too many close calls with buses.
Our preference if you are not parking to stay is that you go through the carline, but if you must park on Manett, you should plan to get out of the car with your child to escort them across the crosswalk. Even in middle school.
