A MESSAGE FROM
Principal Santos
MAP Assessments, House Sorting and our second STEAM day made this 4-day week a busy one! As we complete assessments, teachers will analyze student data to provide targeted instruction. Stay tuned for virtual parent conference dates scheduled for mid-October. I have a few important announcements to share with you this week.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
To continue our efforts to keep COVID cases to a minimum as we work to create a the best after school COVID safety plan for our students and staff, the start date for after school clubs will be shifted to the first week of October. At this time, after school clubs will only be offered to 3rd-7th grade students. PK-2 students can still sign up for power hour clubs using the same link (see quick links and the PTO corner below). If your child has not gotten an opportunity to sign up for an after school club, we will send a remind this week with a list of clubs that still have open spots. We appreciate your patience and continued support.
KEEP US UPDATED WITH ATTENDANCE
We need your help keeping our Solar family as safe and informed as possible. Please keep us updated on your child's attendance so we may ensure that proper contact tracing takes place. If you daughter is staying home due to suspected COVID symptoms, please contact Nurse Arteaga as soon as possible.
While it is always important to stay in touch with your child's teacher - unless a parent contacts the nurse directly to confirm the quarantine/isolation and receive official documentation on the number of days and circumstances under which your daughter is able to return to school - the attendance office will not be able to code your child as quarantined/isolated. Teachers will ONLY provide assignments/office support hours to students that are coded as quarantined/isolated for as many days as determined by the school nurse. Your child will not begin receiving at-home learning assignments until they are coded correctly in the attendance office. Students who are quarantined/isolated will be coded as Q and this will not count against their attendance.
If your child is ever absent for more than one day due to circumstances other than covid, it is important that you contact your child's teacher. A quick email helps save us time so that we are able to account for all students each day. Please note that in this case, students will be counted absent and school work will NOT be provided.
We appreciate your help with this!
COVID CLASSROOM NOTIFICATIONS
Following updated guidance from the Texas Education Agency, Dallas ISD is notifying all teachers, staff and families of all students in a classroom if someone in the classroom tests positive for COVID-19. The district will also begin also notifying all teachers, staff and families of all students in an extracurricular activity or after-school program if someone from that activity or program tests positive for COVID-19.
The district is primarily using the School Messenger automated call out system to notify families. Dallas ISD strongly encourages parents to make sure they have their current phone number and email in the system to receive these notifications. Families can contact the front office if they need to update their contact information in their student’s file.
We are thankful to be able to provide information to our families for better peace of mind. For more information on COVID safety - read our UPDATED COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS or visit the district COVID safety page.
