Meet the Teacher Night 2021
Thank you to all who came out to make our Meet the Teacher nights a success!
A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL SANTOS
We were so happy to welcome our Solar family to the meet the teacher nights! We hope that you were able to get a peek inside your child's classroom and get a feel for the culture and joy that exists within the walls of this building which really are what make this school so special.
We have a lot updates, so please read this newsletter carefully. The single most important thing that we ask is that you let us know how your daughter is getting home on the first day of school. You can click on the link here to help us!
LET'S GET THIS YEAR STARTED!

The Boohoo Breakfast Event has been canceled. All pre-k and kinder families may drop off at the doors on Henderson and greet their teachers. We ask that they wear a mask and socially distance when doing so.
Please click on the arrival and dismissal links below to find out more detailed information about our procedures for drop-off and picking up students each day.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE NEED TO KNOW BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS HOW YOUR DAUGHTER IS GETTING HOME!
We need your help! Click Here.
If you need a carline number - we will be available between 9-2 p.m. to hand out carline numbers outside in front of the garden.

The rise of COVID cases in Dallas County, along with the Delta variant transmission has caused Dallas ISD to reassess its mask requirement. Effective Tuesday, Aug. 10, all staff, students, and visitors are temporarily required to wear a mask when they are on district property.

We have been notified that some of the vendors have run out of our middle school options for uniforms. Be aware that for the first week, students are allowed to wear any DISD acceptable uniform and we can begin more consistent expectations beginning in September.
IF THERE WERE ANY REQUESTS FOR SCHEDULE CHANGES OR IF A STUDENT DID NOT GET A SCHEDULE, WE WILL ENSURE TO HAVE THEM FIXED THIS FIRST WEEK. ALL STUDENTS CAN SHOW UP ON THE FIRST DAY AND WE WILL MAKE SURE THEY KNOW WHERE TO GO FOR CLASS THAT DAY.
PLEASE CONTACT OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNSELOR, Silvia Cabrera, WITH ANY QUESTIONS. (see flyer below).
Uniform Reset! Students will begin the school year on August 16th in complete uniform. Reach out if you need uniform assistance.
All scholars will be expected to be in Solar or district uniforms beginning August 16th. This year we will return to STEAM Fridays with a girl scout uniform and jeans to be worn on Fridays only. If you would like to purchase any of the Solar swag items, visit the Solar Prep PTO website.

SPORTS
It has been brought to the attention of Solar leadership that the Mercy Street organization maintains certain policies that do not align with the core values at Solar Prep. We’ve made the decision to move all PK-6TH sports to the YMCA for the Fall and will communicate sign up information very soon.
Parents can choose to remain at Mercy Street for sports and play on teams, but these teams will not be part of the Solar Sports/PTO sponsored groups and may be with students from other schools in Dallas.
A PTO representative will reach out to all parents who have already registered to explain the refund process to those who wish to do so.
We know this is an inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through the details. It's going to be a great Fall season for our girls!
Karate is coming back to Solar After-School Activities. Stay tuned for more information and look for the booth available on campus at Solar for sign-ups on Meet the Teacher Night!
