From becoming doctors and detectives to chefs, game designers, scientists, military leaders , film producers, basketball players and party-goers our Trailblazers have had so much fun this month applying their skills to the real world and learning along the way!

This week will look a bit different. We greatly appreciate your support with the waiver days! We look forward to seeing all the growth our girls have made in the coming weeks as they continue their end of year assessments. Along the way we will continue to incorporate meaningful, engaging lessons to finish the year strong and continue making every minute of instruction count. 21-22 BUS TRANSPORTATION

Student Transportation E-Form

Parents will have the opportunity to select from new or existing stops through June 18, 2021. Parents will need to select 1st and 2nd choice bus stops. The 1st choice school list includes existing bus stops and new stops. The 2nd choice school list only includes existing bus stops.

We want make sure that ALL of our families had access to school pictures this year. The Make-up Picture day will only be for students. who did NOT get their picture taken on our fall picture day. Pictures will be taken by PTO. We appreciate your understanding and have a plan to include both fall AND spring pictures for next school year!

WAIVER DAYS

Waiver Days for STAAR testing are Tuesday, May 25th and Wednesday, May 26th.

WHO WILL COME TO SCHOOL?

4th Grade STAAR Testers
5th Grade STAAR Testers

WHO WILL STAY AT HOME?

Pre-K , Kindergarten
1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 6th grade
Any student who has ALREADY COMPLETED their STAAR testing

EXPECTATIONS FOR AT HOME LEARNING

How will attendance be taken? Teachers will provide videos and assignments to be completed by 8PM to be counted present for the day.

Cancelled Activities: No Academic Zoom Sessions, No Sisterhood Circle, No Shine Time

The school will reopen for all students on May 27th at 7:50a.m. Please call the front office with any questions.

MASK UPDATE

On May 18, Gov. Greg Abbott announced that public schools and district facilities cannot require masks starting June 5. Until that time, Dallas ISD will continue requiring masks be worn at schools and district facilities.

We recognize the discomfort the changes to the mask mandate may bring to many members of our Solar family. The majority of students are still not old enough to receive a vaccination and we know that this virus is still a very present threat. After June 5, everyone is highly encouraged to continue wearing masks inside schools, on buses, and all district facilities, as an added measure of safety for our students, staff and all of our Solar families. We have had an incredibly supportive effort from all of our families all year long and we believe this supportive effort will help us through the remainder of the year.

Dallas ISD remains committed to continue following social distancing and sanitation protocols. The district will continue studying best practices in the coming weeks and will share updates with our students, staff and families.

SUMMER LEARNING

FIELD DAY VOLUNTEERS

We are excited to announce the return of Field Day on Friday, June 4th!

Due to COVID this year we will, unfortunately, be limited to 20 volunteers for this event. The day will be divided into two shifts with 10 volunteers EACH (maximum): MORNING, 8:30am-12:30pm; and AFTERNOON, 12:30pm-3:30pm.

In order to make the volunteer opportunities as equitable as possible, we will conduct a VOLUNTEER LOTTERY among those who register. To get a chance to win the Field Day Volunteer Lottery, please fill out THIS FORM by 12:00pm, THIS Friday, May 28th.

We appreciate your understanding of how we are conducting this year's volunteer opportunities, and thank you in advance for all that you do to make this day wonderful for our Solar scholars and staff!
