A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL SANTOS
We cannot wait to see everyone at meet the teacher this week! All individuals entering the building must be wearing masks and we ask that if possible, families limit the number of people attending. In one short week we will be welcoming our students for the new school year. The first day back for our staff was last Thursday and we have spent the last week engaging in team building and creating a plan to implement our priorities for the new school year. We enter this week renewed and energized for the week ahead. A huge thank you goes out to PTO and Friends of Solar Prep for ensuring that our teachers were nourished throughout our retreat and to Solar League for spending a Sunday delivering supplies to each grade level!
LET'S GET THIS YEAR STARTED!
The rise of COVID cases in Dallas County, along with the Delta variant transmission has caused Dallas ISD to reassess its mask requirement.
Effective Tuesday, Aug. 10, all staff, students, and visitors are temporarily required to wear a mask when they are on district property.
While an exact timeframe has not been determined, we will continue to monitor the cases in consultation with the Dallas County Health and Human Services. Understandably, this may cause concern to some. We will continue our safety protocols:
social distancing/sanitizing
contact tracing
families should keep sick and exposed students at home
sick and exposed staff members should stay home
The masking requirement also applies to student athletes, band members and all students involved in indoor and outdoor extracurricular activities, including coaches and sponsors.
Contact tracing will continue like last year, for all known positive cases. Daily updates will be made to the covid dashboard.
We know masks were highly effective last year in Dallas ISD, which resulted in very few positive cases in classrooms.
Working together, we can limit the impact among students and staff. Masks will be available to those who do come to school or report to work without a mask. Our goal is to help students accelerate learning in class each day, with minimal disruption to the learning environment.
While we hear and understand your concerns, we also invite you to share your thoughts using our Let’s Talk! online platform. A live person review information daily.
