Living in the age of COVID 19, a lot is up in the air. Much of my traditional curriculum relies on being in a classroom and having regular contact and opportunities to provide detailed demos and in person immediate feedback. To prepare for the uncertainty, the curriculum will need to be much more flexible. A goal I have is to try to find ways to make art that is personally or socially meaningful, and to make more cross-curricular units for students in collaboration with other teachers and content areas.
Whether you or your student are in high school or middle school, each unit will be designed around three to four Performance Indicators (PIs), two to three of which will be art PIs from the three art Proficiency Based Graduation Requirements (PBGRs) (Create, Present, and Respond & Connect) as well as one Habits of Success (HOS). In addition, it is my goal to create each unit with elements of choice.
My goal for high school is to create one or more collaborative service projects to make meaningful art for the school and/or wider community. This one, or these few projects will be co-developed by students working together in collaboration with me, as a facilitator. All project goals will align with the Performance Indicators and Learning targets in the document, below (Still a draft under development):

For any specific questions not addressed by either of these, or, to try and develop or modify your own unit of study to address more of different PIs, please email Mr. Howard at ehoward@cvsu.org.
