I am drawing the first covered bridge on cox brook road. I think it is one of the images that comes to me when I think of entering Northfield and I think It is important in that way. I also went swimming there as a child a lot. The bridge is definitely the most important part of my image, as it is the focus and it is the most iconic thing in the image. From John Knox I learned about the framing of an image and how to make the subject look nice while not being overwhelmingly in your face. It also inspired me to take a picture of a bridge because I saw one of his bridge pictures and it looked good so I wanted to do something similar. Honestly I didn’t really think too much about Sabra Field when painting but her work may have inspired me to make it more simplistic than the original image. Overall I definitely enjoyed John Knox’s work a lot more than Sabra Field’s and drew more inspiration from his work although I can’t say with total certainty that I didn’t take anything from Sabra Field even though I don’t enjoy her art very much. I think Sabra Field is an interesting choice but ultimately gets the meaning of the project through better than a more detailed artist and adds more to community involvement as her style is less complex and therefore easier to replicate.
