I chose to paint the former railroad station/current Merchant Bank location for my banner. I chose this location due to it being one of the more unique looking buildings in the town, and it is one of the oldest buildings in town. The building is close in proxy to the railroad and was used as a train station, so I added the Amtrak passing through to connect right now to the past.
What I learned from the photographer, John Knox is to take photographs from different unique angles instead of just straight on, in order to make it look more interesting. The influence I got from Sabra Field is to not worry about fine details, and that you can still get a sense of place even with simplifications to the building designs and hills. I am proud that you can still tell exactly what it is!
