~ Spending up to four hours a week engaged with their selected Extended Learning Opportunity;

~ Assisting in a way that their mentor sees fit;

~ Contacting the Extended Learning mentor to confirm all logistics (date/time, arrangements, etc.);   

~ Reporting to the Extended Learning Opportunity promptly; notify mentor and coordinator immediately if illness or emergency prevents reporting to the opportunity;

~ Observing the Extended Learning Opportunities rules and regulations, as well as demonstrate good employability skills including a cooperative attitude, appropriate dress, and a willingness to learn. Any non-adherence could result in removal from the opportunity; and

~ Arranging for transportation to and from the Extended Learning Opportunity if needed/identified.

~ Coordinating a weekly schedule that provides them with up to four hours of time each week;

~ Providing a realistic view of a specific job; 

~ Allowing students to observe and engage with educational professionals at the opportunity site ;

~ Allowing students time to ask questions;

~ Provide the student challenging work activities that aid in acquiring competencies necessary to advance in the educational field;

~ Reinforce an expectation of appropriate conduct while engaging in the opportunity;

~ Communicate on logistics, school policies, and exact expectations, duties, and responsibilities of the opportunity;

~ Encourage students to effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities of the opportunity provided; and

~ Notifying the Extended Learning Coordinator if a student does not report for their scheduled time or if they experience any issues.

Immediate Assistance: Should you encounter any ongoing issues, such as student attendance, or arriving late to their face-to-face or virtual meetings, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Mark Trexler at (mtrexler@jhu.edu). He is readily available to address any concerns promptly and offer guidance as required.

Visits and On-Site Support: In the rare event that a situation necessitates it, Dr. Mark Trexler is more than willing to visit your extended learning site or participate in a virtual meeting to facilitate discussions and address any concerns that may arise. Please rest assured that our entire ITGL faculty is committed to providing the requisite support to ensure a successful experience for all parties involved. Additionally, he will be scheduling visits just to say "Hi!" to you and our students both in face-to-face or virtual meetings.

Zoom Meetings: Periodically throughout the school year, Dr. Mark Trexler will send out Zoom meeting links. These sessions are entirely optional but are designed to furnish you with a platform for posing questions, exploring alternative perspectives, and receiving assistance. Feel free to join whenever you find it advantageous.
