Starting in the Fall 2024 semester, students (primarily Masters and PhD students, as EdD students have their own support) will be able to schedule 45-minute Zoom or in-person appointments through Calendly. Students will be asked to bring 1-4 pages of writing, which the Academic Writing Consultant will silently review within the first 10 minutes of the appointment. The remaining 35 minutes will be devoted to discussing the student’s writing.
SOE has partnered with the Homewood Writing Center to offer peer tutoring for SOE students. The Center provides 45-minute individual sessions with trained peer tutors for any writing type. Sessions are available on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., both in-person and online. To book an appointment, visit the Writing Center's website and register in their scheduling system, selecting the School of Education.
As the new academic year begins, many students may feel overwhelmed or anxious about the challenges ahead. “Chat with a Counselor” offers informal, confidential one-on-one sessions with a Mental Health Services staff member. It’s a space to ask questions; explore strategies for managing stress, academics, or life; and connect with resources that align with individual needs and identities. This service is not for urgent concerns—students in crisis should contact the Behavioral Health Crisis Support Team at 410-516-9355, available 24/7.
What are your academic and professional goals? What are your core values? How do your goals and core values align? These are just a few questions that you can explore in a free Hop-In coaching session with Carey Borkoski, who is certified through the International Coaching Federation. Email Carey Borkoski at cborkoski@jhu.edu to schedule a coaching session.
The Free Food Alert (FFA) was established to reduce food waste from campus events and feed hungry Hopkins community members. It is an innovative platform that allows event hosts to post free food giveaways when there is excess food after their event and for Hopkins community members to receive email and mobile alerts for free food!
