The Instructional Resource Center (IRC) will provide Extended Learning opportunities for participants to assist with instructional design, technology, and multimedia projects. They will be mentored by IRC staff and collaborate on actual projects or conduct research to support future projects. The ITGL student will be able to complete the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop and receive QM certification.
Possible projects include:
Artificial Intelligence (AI)– (2 projects, 2 students) Explore and test Generative AI and other educational resources for the instructor.
Testing - Explore and test multiple AI tools to support instructors in building machine learning (ML) and large language models (LLM) in AAP courses to make the content accessible by implementing UDL strategies for a science and GIS courses.
Microcredentials – (1 project, 1 student) Explore high-impact teaching strategies (HITS) to support microinstruction for adult learners.
Digital Accessibility – (1 project, 1 student) Explore tools and solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of accessibility strategies, especially for unique challenges presented by STEM course content. Experience with R programming language or familiarity with coding/scripting, in general, is preferred.
Multimedia Support – (2 projects, 2 students) – Story Boards Creators, Plan instructional video content by creating storyboards for lectures, and source images and videos.

Special skills:
For AI and Digital Accessibility, strong STEM knowledge and programming, coding, GIS, science, and other technical skills or willingness to learn are required.
For the Multimedia projects, some video editing skills are required.

AAPQM Certification Instructions
We will provide the opportunity to certification in AAPQM by taking the free QM workshop provided by Dr. Joseph Runciman. However, it is scheduled for the third week of October on the 16th and 17th from 9 am to 12:30 pm.

We suggest the students take the free workshop because they will:
Learn how to apply the QM rubric.
Learn what high-quality instructional design looks like
They will receive a certificate of completion.
The students can support mentors in other instructional design areas if they complete the certification.
