The Chs Cultural Festival

The CHS cultural festival hosted by the Chinese Club and the Chinese National Honor Society was a roaring success. This festival included a mix of cultures and showcased our ability to bring people of all different backgrounds together through music, dance, a universal language, and food. This event had one of a kind moments and trials that they faced as an organization to make this possible. From last minute boots in ticket sales to a dragon saving the event . The outcome of this festival was unforgettable and will be remembered as a huge accomplishment, as well as a reminder of how diverse our school is and our tiger pride in that.

The CHS cultural festival was a mixture of cultures, coming together. The festival was run by some clubs but mostly the Chinese club, a club that not many people know is here at our school.

“The goal of the festival was to showcase different cultures this school has to offer. We wanted to show how diverse our school really is,” Co-host Senior Kalyssa Lath- Cheng said. “Not many people know about the different “Asian cultures” we hold here.”

The event was organized a month ahead of its launch, although some things came easy such as help and support. A big issue was marketing, and making the event known, but this was overcome.

“Finding people who could work the festival wasn’t hard at all. However, marketing was definitely our biggest problem,” Lath-Cheng said. “Luckily we had connections and got to KTIG as well as The Triumph.”

The CHS cultural festival was a huge event that of course had many hands on deck. There were people that went above and beyond to make the night possible.

“However if we’re talking about who played the biggest role it would have definitely been our chinese teacher Jiang Laoshi,” Lath-Cheng said. “Aly, Jenifer Hernandez, Kalyssa Lath-Cheng, Sherlyn, and Eli all played a huge part.”

For Lath-Chang the celebration of the school’s culture doesn’t end at graduation. She looks forward to showing our pride for years to come.

“My goal for the future is to raise enough money so I can come back to this school and throw another festival that’s bigger and better, maybe a music festival, so that everyone knows what a great community we have here at CHS,” Lath-Cheng said.

The festival was memorable, The Chinese Club and The Chinese National Honor Society were successful. They are thankful for any help and who attended and supported the festival.

“We hope that it will be a lasting memory for everyone,” Lath-Cheng said. “Whether you worked the festival or came to enjoy the festival, we hoped you had a great time and we want to thank you all. “
