Crochet Club

There is a new after-school club. The crochet club had its first official meeting on Tuesday, November first and will continue to meet every month on the first and third Tuesday. It’s a club opened for anyone despite their current experience.

“It’s a place where students can gain a connection of friendship and skill by being in our club, working in an environment where they feel most comfortable with being themselves more than anywhere else.” Said Junior Club President, Alisha Noureen, on behalf of both herself and vice-president TramNguyen. “Students will be involved in crocheting projects as a group and individually, learn time management skills, and meet new people. Having a supportive and positive environment to work in. We will have music and a help centre available for everyone.”

“As Vice-President, I am responsible for taking care of the club’s reminder platform, planning meetings, organising future activities, being the energy for the group, and supporting the President in certain duties.”

Crochet is a club for anybody interested in learning a new skill during their free time.

“In crochet we will spend time learning techniques and basic skills to be able to make just about anything and we will work on different projects that everyone wants to learn how to make together.” Club Member, Soirn Hernandez said. Being in crochet gives me a chance to learn how to crochet from people who know how and can give me technical advice, as well as hang out with like minded people who also enjoy the craft.”

Crochet Club is for everyone, a perfect space for all skill levels; master, intermediate, beginner or newly.

“I decided to join the Crochet Club for a new experience and for all of us to learn a skill in a group. Although I don't know how to crochet yet I hope I make something I am proud of.” Said Junior Club Member, Hanna Ueno.

“I joined Crochet for a new experience and a hobby I can enjoy with my friends after school. Crochet is something I'm interested in and cannot wait to see what I will be able to make in the club.” Said Junior Club Member Courney Nguyen.

“I would definitely recommend people to join this club, I already have. I think it's a relaxing activity to do after a day of school and it doesn't rush you, it's just something to work on and once you finish that first project you won't be able to wait for the next.” Said  Club Member, Soirn Hernandez

The Crochet Club is entirely student run so members may enjoy themselves without feeling like they’re in a scholar environment.
