The Valedictorian

Many have hopes of becoming valedictorian but only those with extreme talent accomplish it. Yet, some have so much talent that it’s no problem for them to achieve this title.

“There’s only one thing, best average grades, I don’t think I worked the hardest, it’s a mix of talent and hard work, there’s more talented and hard working people than me, but I think I have I have the best mix of those two things” Valedictorian, Maximo Mantazano said.

Matazano is the class of ‘22 valedictorian, this title landed on his lap since it was not something he was striving for in general. This lucky title is just another one of his achievements.

“I didn't know I was salutatorian until the end of last year and then over the summer the former valedictorian messed up, they took some classes they shouldn’t have which dropped their GPA, and when I came back this school year I found out,” Manatazano said

With Mantazano being Valedictorian he has some pressure on his shoulders, as this is a challenging title to hold.

“I think people expect you to do good all the time on every test, and any day of the week, if they ask you a question then you’re supposed to know it from the top of your head,” Mantazano said.

Having the honor to be valedictorian is something that came with some leverage for Manatzano but with a limit.

“You do get a big admission advantage, not a big scholarship but an advantage and instant admission to any public colleges in Texas,” Mantazano said

It is expected for the Valedictorian to go to college yet others have a lot of talent that they could use somewhere else.

“No college for me, I am doing something else,” Mantazano said

Usually every valedictorian gives a speech but Mantazano has his opinions on behalf of this subject.

“I feel like I would have too much fun with it, I think I would mess around with it too much, I think I would either take it seriously or just go up there and be as arrogant as possible,” said Mantazano.
