Behind the Scenes with KTIG

So much goes into the making of shows that viewers don't usually see. It takes time to plan, prepare, and film for the show to be released. At Conroe High School the KTIG NEWS covers quite a lot of the school activities but also has shows of their own like “Cooking with Culinary”.

“I didn't realize I was gonna become a producer until the end of  last year. I had a choice between cooking with culinary and graphics but I realized that the idea of running a whole show is a lot better than just making titles,” junior Andre Ortiz said.

As producer Andre feels like he does more for the school and gets the chance to make the show more relatable.

“We make sure everything is measured out and weighed out if need be and prepped the way that it should be,” junior Cierra Franklin said.

Making sure all ingredients are prepared beforehand is an important part of the show and as chef Cierra gets it done.

“We do want to have really good dishes on our show like our new sub series fantasy foods we started creating,” Ortiz said.

Ortiz said his overall goal for the show is to get it more views and make it something people wanna rewatch.

“Mentioning anything little like the recipes and asking details about the ingredients keeps the conversation going,” junior Marco Sarmiento said.

As host Marco said he needs to have a “good and exciting personality” to make the show enjoyable to watch.

“Our production starts about a week before we actually film and then a week after is post production, so about 2 weeks,” Ortiz said.

Before the filming starts it takes time to find an interesting dish, prepare graphics, and after they must edit and use decoy dishes if needed.

“I like being able to just cook with my friends and teaching people how to cook as well,” Cierra Franklin said.

Franklin said she stays focused while filming the show, but also enjoys being able to cook for the show.

Producing sounds really hard but realistically I'm just making sure everyone is doing their own jobs”, Ortiz said.

Andre said to be a great producer he has to be able to take initiative, but it is “easy to manage” when others are getting their work done.

“With our newest episode I can't say what we are going to air but I'm gonna make it feel different,” Ortiz said.
