Grade 1 + 2 Girls' Mini Tennis: Termly Reflection

The Grade1 & 2 girls have had a very busy term working on the foundations of their tennis. We have focused on developing their hand-eye co-ordination, as well as their ball skills. Mastering these basics, in conjunction with teaching foot work and basic strokes, is an essential stepping stone, before they are able to compete in matches.

We were able to introduce serving and the children are encouraged to keep practising, as this is a complex action, which takes time to master. Developing a love for the game, working with a partner and learning the rules, are all part of this wonderful sport. It was fantastic to see how enthusiastic the girls were at each session and we are so proud of how far the children have come in this very short term. Despite many rainy days, we have managed to ‘play on’, making use of our fantastic indoor centre. We look forward to building on these skills next year, as well as getting out into the sunshine when our new outdoor courts are complete in the new year.
