My little Bees, it’s time to say,
Our busy year has flown away.
We’ve dug and drawn, we’ve built and played,
Made playdough pies and paintings displayed.
As the busy and exciting year draws to a close, our final term has been a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of laughter, rhythmic exploration, generous giving, and a sprinkle of teddy bear magic. What a joyful way for our Grade 3s to conclude an exciting year in the Junior Primary!
To celebrate the festive season, they welcomed the Grade 2s and their teachers to a charming Christmas Café thoughtfully prepared just for them.
On Monday the 17 November the Grade 1 children were able to squeeze in one last day trip. This was in connection with our garden theme and a wonderful way to bring to life, all that we have learnt. Kerry Peckham, a well known teacher, artist and regenerative farmer, was the perfect host. She shared her incredible knowledge as she walked us around her small holding.
The recent Wet 'n Wild Gala served as a demonstration of the swimming program for our Grade 0 children. It provided an opportunity to observe their progress in the pool, showcasing developed water skills and an understanding of water safety. Consistent participation was noted despite varying weather conditions, reflecting engagement throughout the term.
The Pre-School children recently participated in a delightful Water Fun Day, characterised by laughter, learning, and extensive joyful splashes. The day seamlessly integrated play with discovery, enabling the children to explore the wonders of water through a variety of hands-on experiences.
A Joyful Celebration of the Christmas Story
The Chapel was filled with warmth and festive cheer as our Grade 0 children took to the stage to share the timeless story of Jesus’ birth. This much-loved tradition is always a highlight on the Pre-Primary calendar, and this year’s performance was no exception — a truly heartwarming celebration that captured the wonder and joy of Christmas.
The Grade 3 outing to the Hilton College Nature Reserve was a resounding success. The boys and girls had the opportunity to connect with nature, witness the beauty of wildlife, and explore the fascinating dynamics of freshwater ecosystems. The day was filled with adventure, curiosity, and shared moments of discovery.
As the curtain draws on what has been a wonderfully busy year, our final term in the Pre-School has been a vibrant tapestry woven with threads of laughter, rhythm, and a generous sprinkling of magic. This period is always a time of joyful reflection and exciting final activities, with our social calendar culminating in a particularly beloved tradition: the Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
On Friday, 24 October, the Grade 1 children took a short drive down the road to the Crane Foundation adjacent to Fordoun farm. We had beautiful weather to explore the reserve and the children enjoyed walking to the vlei where they ticked off various bugs and plants from their checklist. Drinking fresh water from the stream was a treat and quite a few children couldn’t help themselves and took a quick dip to cool off!
Grade 3s Wrap Up the Year with an Unforgettable Berg Adventure
To celebrate the end of a wonderful year of learning and growth, our Grade 3 children set off on their final Junior Primary excursion, an exciting and joy-filled adventure to the breathtaking Central Drakensberg.
Not even a rainy morning could dampen the excitement of the Froggies and Chameleons as they climbed aboard the buses for their final Grade 0 outing of the year! With chatter and laughter filling the air, our eager explorers set off on a sensory adventure to Peter’s Gate Herbal Centre.
The Grade 3s recently enjoyed an exciting Science Day outing to the beautiful Michaelhouse campus, surrounded by rolling lawns and fresh country air. From the moment we arrived, there was a buzz of excitement as the children eagerly prepared for a morning filled with fascinating experiments and scientific surprises.
Our final Grade 2 trip of the year was a firm favourite among the children. On Monday, 13 October, we set off down the mountain to Tala Game Reserve, filled with anticipation and excitement. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the Spirit of Adventure team.
On Thursday 9 October our Grade 1 children arrived at school full of excitement for their final trip of the year. Bags were packed, buses loaded, and we set off to BergVenture!
