Staff
Matt Fairweather, our Head of Sport, has been selected as a South African Indoor Hockey U18 Boys selector for the national tournament taking place in the first week of December.
Sadly, at the final Chapel assembly we said farewell to a number of staff and interns:
Fibiano Chapatha will be teaching music privately in the area.
Emma Fyvie and Nicola Worrall will be devoting more time to their families and Megan Osler will be moving to a private practice.
Liza Borgen (Mevrou) retires after 22 years at Clifton and is looking forward to developing online Afrikaans learning programmes.
Sylvia Zulu and Jesslina Ngcobo are retiring form the catering staff after 40 and 36 years service respectively.
Annie Falconer, who has provided love and care to a small group of young neurodiverse adults who have been part of life at Clifton, will continue as a learning support facilitator next year.
Interns:
Justin Kufal and Taylor Wood will continue their studies: Justin at Howick Prep and Taylor at home.
Nick Ross and Uhuru Vanda have now qualified and will be taking up posts at St Charles and Parktown High respectively.
Desiree Kalika is seeking an Au Pair position overseas and Keziah Dewing will continue her teaching career.
We thank all the leavers for their dedication and service to Clifton and wish them everything of the best on the next leg of their journeys.
More Trees
A while ago a number of big trees were planted on the terraces to the north of the classrooms. These have now settled and will be enjoying the rainfall and summer growing season. This Yellowwood will soon be a prominent feature in the top forest.
And so, as this chapter of my life draws to a close, Laura and I look forward to returning home, me to teaching Biomimicry. We are both happy in the knowledge that Clifton will be in the capable hands of Jason and Cathy Brown, who will embrace the Clifton Way, the values ethos and the children which we all hold so dear.
