The WMAES Parent Team has once again made it possible for us to host a popcorn sale for students. Bags of popcorn are 50 cents. Families will still be able to sponsor an entire class for a donation of $12. Students are able to purchase multiple bags of popcorn if desired.
A reminder that there will be no school Wednesday, November 26, through Friday, November 28. We hope the break brings your family some time to relax and recharge.
Check out a 5th grade student's completed weaving project! Students dyed the yarn with plants we grew and foraged all around our school! We're so filled with joy for this. It's the best unit - it softens everyone and they feel so content weaving. Nature nourishes all of us! He was so excited to complete it!
3rd and 4th grade have also loved learning to finger crochet bracelets! It looks challenging at first. They have such perseverance and determination to figure it out and feel such pride when they complete their bracelets! They are so eager to make more!! Again, all of these beautiful colors come from their collecting flowers and plants grown in the garden and foraged and dyed in art class. Kids nature art is so beautiful and enriching!
Tk-2nd is also under way with their weaving and fiber arts units to build their love and understanding of the art! They start with playing with the fibers to create their art then practice weaving with paper.
1st grade learned about Huichol Mexican yarn painting as they painted flowers with their dyed yarn, and created texture rubbings with leaves they foraged in the woods for the back ground of their garden gnomes that'll be showcased in our enchanted garden spring art show. Their creations light them up!
Kindergarten is learning about the process of making wool yarn and loving printmaking the texture of sheep's wool. They'll add their dyed yarn to the collage in a few days! Thank you, mother nature!
