We're excited to share that this Saturday, February 3rd, our campus will host the Kent County Search and Rescue team for a K-9 training session. Acknowledging the significance of such training, we're proud to help facilitate this event by providing our space. To keep our community informed and to prevent any surprise or concern, we want to advise everyone that you may see the training team and their K-9 companions on the school premises throughout the day.
We'd like to remind everyone that there will be no school for students Friday, February 16, during staff professional development. There is also no school for students Monday, February 19, and Tuesday, February 20, for Mid-Winter Break. These dates and all upcoming events are also available on our online calendar which you can subscribe to any time at https://www.addevent.com/calendar/MF615307Â
The WMAES team looks forward to hosting our upcoming parent-teacher conferences with options for in-person conferences the evening of February 29 and virtual conferences via Google Meet the afternoon of March 1. As always, we hope to provide everyone with a convenient way for us to connect and discuss your child's progress. To access virtual conferences, please note that you will need a Google account. Don't worry if you don't have one; you can use your student's @wma-es.com Google account. We will share instructions on how to sign up for the virtual and in-person conferences soon. Please keep an eye out for this information to reserve your preferred time slot.
In-person conferences will be held on February 29 from 5:30-7:30 pm and virtual conferences will be held on March 1 from 1:00-4:00 pm. We hope that these time slots will accommodate your schedule and look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's progress.
The Intent to Return form for the 2024-2025 school year will be available on PowerSchool Parent Portal on February 5. As a reminder, Intent to Return is an online form that families complete annually to ensure their students have a spot reserved at WMAES for the next school year. We look forward to the opportunity to reserve space for your student and continue partnering with you in your childâs education! Please keep in mind that if you have multiple students at WMAES, an intent to return will need to be completed for each of them separately.
It is our privilege to serve the families that comprise our amazing, diverse WMAES school community. We're grateful to partner alongside you in your child's educational journey and for the growth and successes made possible with your support. As we anticipate the 2024-2025 school year with great enthusiasm, we look forward to your family joining us as we continue favorite WMAES traditions and usher in a number of exciting new developments.    Â
Our next kindergarten round-up for families interested in enrolling a student in kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year is Tuesday, February 13, from 5:00-6:00 PM. Join us to learn more about our outstanding kindergarten programs, visit a kindergarten teacher and classroom, and take a tour of the elementary. Please feel free to share this information with families you know who are exploring kindergarten options for next year.Â
WMAES is pleased to invite families to a meeting about the school wellness policy at 2:00 PM in the WMAES cafeteria on Tuesday, Feb 27. Having healthy choices at school helps keep our children healthy and ready to learn. The school wellness policy helps our school create an action plan for nutrition and physical activity at school. Parents can share their opinions and help make sure the policy is meeting the needs of our students. WMAESâ wellness policy is available at https://wma-es.com/wellness-and-nutrition-at-wmaes/Â
If youâd like to attend, please register by completing the brief form here: Registration Form https://forms.gle/PHwyqSgUa8VYUHp78Â
Parents who are unable to attend the meeting can submit comments about the wellness policy or nutrition and physical activity at WMAES on the registration form above.
Thank you!Â
