Dear WMAES Families,
What a fantastic first week of school we've had! It’s been wonderful to see our students back on campus, full of energy and excitement for the new school year. The smooth transition we’ve experienced is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, the effort and focus of our students, and the support of our families.
As we head into another great week, I ask that you please review the important information below with your family. Please note that there will be no school on Friday, August 30, and Monday, September 2, in observance of Labor Day.
Wishing you all a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Thank you for being a part of the WMAES community.

We would like to share some exciting news regarding a leadership transition at our school. Our former Assistant Principal, Mark Slotman, has accepted a new position as a school administrator at another institution. We are incredibly grateful for all that Mark has contributed to WMAES and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will undoubtedly make in his new role.
As we continue to evolve to meet the needs of our school community, we are pleased to announce that our Assistant Principal position will be transitioning to a K-12 Dean of Students role. This change is designed to support our students and staff across all grade levels.
We are excited to share that Haleigh Wright has accepted the role of K-12 Dean of Students. Many of you may already know Haleigh from her impactful work as a Student Advocate at WMAES. In her previous role, she has been a consistent source of support, focusing on positive behavior intervention, building strong relationships with our students and families, and helping staff meet the diverse needs of our student body.
Haleigh has also been instrumental in implementing and supporting our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) frameworks. These systems are essential in fostering a positive and supportive school environment that meets the needs of all students.
In her new position, Haleigh will take the lead in continuing the school-wide implementation of MTSS and PBIS, ensuring these critical systems effectively support every student. She will focus on maintaining and strengthening a positive school environment, emphasizing the importance of positive behavior across our campus. Additionally, Haleigh will work closely with teachers to support their efforts in addressing the social-emotional needs of our students.
Haleigh will begin transitioning into her new role over the next few weeks. Please join us in congratulating her on this exciting new chapter.
Thank you for your continued partnership.
