As we wrap up another fantastic year at WMAES, we invite you to complete our spring family survey linked below. Your feedback and partnership are invaluable to us as we strive to provide the best possible experience for your students. Thank you for your continued support and for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.
As we approach the end of the school year and enjoy warmer days, we want to remind everyone of our uniform requirements to ensure our students remain comfortable, focused, and ready to learn every day.
Our uniform guidelines are as follows:
WMAES Uniform Top: Please make sure your child wears a WMAES uniform top daily.
Solid Color Pants/Shorts or Jeans/Jean Shorts: Bottoms should be solid in color, whether they are pants, shorts, jeans, or jean shorts.
Closed-Toe Shoes: For safety and comfort, all students should wear closed-toe shoes.
We appreciate your continued support with our uniform policy!
At WMAES, student safety is our top priority. During environmental science classes, students are taught how to keep an eye out for and avoid poison ivy and are given careful instructions to stay on designated paths to prevent exposure.
We kindly ask for your support in reminding your children to stay in designated areas during all outdoor activity. Thank you!
We have many student belongings in the lost and found located in the elementary entryway. Please take a moment to check for any missing items.
To make it more convenient, the lost and found will be available outside the elementary entrance at dismissal on the next two Fridays. Additionally, during the last week of school, it will be available outside at dismissal every day.
Items not collected by the last day of school will be donated, so please make sure to check for any belongings your child may have misplaced.
Thank you!
Our spring session of NWEA MAP Growth assessments will start on May 13. At West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science, we administer the NWEA MAP Growth to all students from transitional kindergarten through fifth grade. This spring testing window offers a valuable opportunity for students to demonstrate the growth they've achieved throughout the year and helps us make informed instructional decisions as we plan for the next school year.
MAP Growth is a computer-adaptive test that is taken by millions of students worldwide. It dynamically adjusts the difficulty of questions based on your child's responses to accurately measure their achievement levels. This adaptive approach provides a personalized assessment experience, enabling us to tailor educational strategies to meet each student’s individual needs.
Additional Resources:
For a deeper understanding of MAP Growth and how it benefits your child's education, you can visit the Family Toolkit. This toolkit is a treasure trove of information on navigating and supporting your child’s educational journey.
We at WMAES are committed to providing the best educational experience for your child, and MAP Growth is a vital part of this process. Your support at home is invaluable in preparing them for success not just in these assessments, but in their overall learning journey.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education!
