For those families with a student attending, we're excited to welcome you to our 2025 Summer Enrichment Program, which begins Monday, July 7 and runs through Thursday, July 31. Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s continued growth this summer!
Below you’ll find important information to help you and your child prepare for a smooth and successful summer session:
Program Schedule
Dates: Monday–Thursday, July 7–31
Student Hours: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Breakfast: Served daily from 7:45–9:00 AM. Teachers will bring their class to the cafeteria for a brief window during this time.
Lunch: Provided at 11:30 AM — we typically end the day with lunch
Both breakfast and lunch are free for all students
Dismissal: Begins at 12:00 PM
Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
Due to HVAC construction in the elementary building, arrival and dismissal will take place using the door to the hallway that connects the elementary and secondary buildings. This entrance is located immediately south of the elementary main entrance, as shown in the image below.
Upon entering, students will turn right into the secondary hallway. Staff will be available to greet and direct students to their classrooms.
Arrival: Students may begin entering at 7:45 AM.
Dismissal: Begins at 12:00 PM. Students will exit through the same connecting door. Teachers will be outside with students on the sidewalk in front of the secondary building. An adult family member must walk up to the teacher and greet them to pick up their child, as is our usual school-year practice.
Uniform Reminder
As we approach the summer session and enjoy warmer days, we want to remind families of our WMAES uniform requirements to ensure all students remain comfortable, focused, and ready to learn:
WMAES Uniform Top: Please make sure your child wears their WMAES uniform top daily
Solid Color Pants/Shorts or Jeans/Jean Shorts: Bottoms should be solid in color, whether they are pants, shorts, jeans, or jean shorts
Closed-Toe Shoes: For safety and comfort, all students should wear closed-toe shoes
We appreciate your continued support in upholding our uniform policy. It helps create a sense of unity and ensures all students are prepared for the activities we have planned.

All classrooms will be located in the secondary building this summer. Kindergarten and 1st grade will share a classroom. Room assignments are as follows:

We’re excited to share that our native landscape project on the east side of campus is well underway! This area will soon include outdoor learning spaces, native plantings, a shaded gathering area, extensive new walkways, and more. These additions will create a beautiful and functional environment for learning, exploration, and connection.
Be sure to swipe or click through the photo gallery of progress below and stay tuned for more updates as the project wraps up this summer.
We're pleased to share that crews are hard at work and our HVAC replacement project for the elementary building is progressing on schedule. As shared previously, this work includes a full replacement of our heating and cooling system in the elementary building. This upgrade will improve comfort and system reliability across all classrooms.
We’re grateful to our WMAES Board of Directors for allocating the resources to make this investment possible. Their support ensures we’re creating the best possible environment for students and staff. We’ll continue to share updates as installation progresses.
Join us on Tuesday, August 6 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM for our next exciting event, Popsicles on the Playground! This event is open to all new and returning elementary families. At West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science, our teachers inspire, empower, and uplift our students every single day. This summer, we’re encouraging families to recognize those extraordinary efforts by nominating one of our own through the Heroes of the Classroom program, presented by Kleenex.
What is Heroes of the Classroom?
It’s a nationwide teacher recognition contest celebrating educators who truly make a difference—those who help students feel strong, spark lasting change, and deserve to be honored.
Here’s how it works:
Nominate a WMAES teacher whose dedication and impact have stood out to you.
Teachers, schools, and those who submit nominations will be eligible to be awarded a variety of prizes as part of the recognition process.
Nominations are open now and close on August 3, 2025.
How to submit a nomination:
Fill out the brief nomination form
Share why your chosen teacher is a true hero in our WMAES community
Thank you for helping us celebrate the dedication and passion our teachers bring every day. Let’s make sure their impact is recognized beyond our school walls!
As summer is underway and a number of exciting projects and campus improvements take shape, we’re thrilled to share a long-anticipated update with you all.
We’re proud to unveil the new logo for West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science! While our current logo has served us well and represented our school with pride, it’s time for a fresh, modern look—one that continues to reflect our mission and core values while helping us grow into the future.
As we transition to our new logo, here are a few exciting changes you’ll notice this summer:
A new digital road sign featuring the updated logo, replacing our primary sign at the corner of Wilson and Leonard
Updates to our school store
A chance to win new WMAES apparel featuring the refreshed logo
We understand families may have questions, especially regarding uniforms, so here’s what you need to know:
Uniforms with the old logo will be fully grandfathered in. Students may continue wearing their current uniforms without any issue.
Navy blue remains an approved uniform color. New uniform shirts will feature a fresh hunter green option as we incorporate the updated logo.
We hope you’ll join us in celebrating this exciting milestone and proudly embracing the new logo as part of our shared identity at WMAES. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the school office—we’re always happy to help.
Please see the calendar below for key dates for the upcoming school year, including the first and last days of school, breaks, events, and early dismissal dates. We hope this helps your family begin planning ahead for a successful year.
