Creating an Overlay

For this VFX project I created intros, overlays and an end-slate to use for my YouTube channel.

REFLECTION

For this intro, the image of a rainbow was downloaded from the internet. If I was to re-do it in the future I'd use the rainbow as a base image and edit it in photoshop by adding tones, textures and etc to make the image my own.

Whilst making this overlay/intro I used quicktime to record my screen. I've edited this tutorial video in iMovie and published it on YouTube. It clearly showcases the processes I took to make this graphic design.

For the intro and overlay above, I started with a black background. After this I added text (the font is signpainter) and positioned it in the centre. Next, I added transitions and effects to the image of hearts (which i added a greyscale effect to) as well as the text. I then configured the duration of the effects and transitions. Finally, I exported it at the settings shown to the right:

For this end-slate, I searched for a marble effect background on google. The original background was black and white but I opened it in photoshop and added a layer of gold glitter in the white sections of the image. This created the current background. After this I simply added rectangles and filled them with pictures, text or colour. Then I downloaded the subscribe button and edited it to have the purple gradient effect. After this I downloaded all the social media logos and used photoshop to remove their backgrounds and saved them as png images. Next I added all the transitions and effects to each section. From this I was able to customise the order in which each appeared and adjust the duration of the effect. I then exported it in the same way I exported the intro/overlay above.
