Since we are quite close to finishing the second draft of our script, we have developed a pitch which contains key information about our idea for our short film based on social realism. The pitch talks through our plan in a lot of detail ranging from possible shot types to potential locations and actors. The pitch will be presented on the 4th April to the rest of the class and therefore, now that the main powerpoint is completed. We also ensured that everyone in the group knew which slides were designated to them based on their role and answered any question regarding their area of expertise.
We pitched to the teachers and we carefully went through the information and established the plot and our motivations for our film. We specified the shots, location and research to support our ideas; this was important as we should be well informed on the subject matter when working on social realism films.
Our pitch was successful as we all inputted in its creation, we were able to clearly communicate our ideas to the teachers and answer questions which presented us as assured in our project. I think we benefitted from the pitch as it challenged our understanding of the idea giving us room for development.
As the director of Cub, I had to create a set of documents prior to the filming of the film in order to guarantee that everything ran smoothly in regards to the actors perfomance's as well as the job of the camera operator. Please see below the shot list, script annotations and the directors notes.
As the director, i feel that it is very important to cast people who could best deliver the role of the characters. Samuel is protagonist and the youngest character of them all, Grace is Samuel's older sister and Michael is her boyfriend. I suggested that we should have a diverse set of characters from different ethnicities. For example: Samuel could be mixed race, Grace could be white and Michael is black. This would be effective in reflecting a modern south London family but based on who we auditions we made the suitable decision on who played the role.
