This week, our scholars participated in several financial literacy activities designed to help them develop important money-management skills. Through hands-on learning experiences, scholars practiced money transactions, learned the difference between wants and needs, and calculated the cost of items they wished to purchase to determine whether they had enough money.
Scholars also explored the value of money and learned how to make informed spending decisions. These lessons revealed that many of our scholars have had limited opportunities to work with money in real-life situations, making financial literacy instruction even more important.
Financial literacy is a life skill that will benefit scholars for years to come. We will continue to incorporate financial literacy activities into our program, but we also need your support at home!
🏪 Parents, please consider allowing your scholar to accompany you to the store and participate in simple purchasing activities. Encourage them to:
Compare prices of items
Calculate the total cost of purchases
Determine if they have enough money to buy an item
Count and verify the change they should receive
Discuss the difference between wants and needs
These everyday experiences help build confidence and strengthen the practical math and decision-making skills scholars need for future success.
Together, we can help our scholars become financially responsible and informed consumers! 🌟
Passport Stamped! Adventure Awaits! 🌟
This week, our Summer Summit scholars became world travelers without ever leaving Milledgeville! Through exciting lessons, hands-on activities, cultural experiences, literature, music, art, science, and exploration, students embarked on an unforgettable journey across the globe. Each grade level explored a different continent and discovered the beauty, traditions, and diversity that make our world such an amazing place. 🌎❤️
Our 3rd-grade scholars traveled across Europe, where they explored famous landmarks, learned about fascinating countries, and discovered traditions that have shaped the world for centuries. Through engaging stories and interactive activities, students experienced the rich cultures of Europe while listening to traditional music and learning about foods enjoyed throughout the continent. Their curiosity and excitement made every day feel like a new international adventure!

Scholars explored beautiful gardens, observed plants and wildlife, and connected classroom learning to the natural world around them. The experience provided a wonderful opportunity to learn, explore, and appreciate the beauty of nature.
One of the week's biggest highlights was the incredible Science Magic Show presented by the Georgia College & State University Science Department! Scholars were amazed as science came to life through exciting demonstrations, surprising experiments, and mind-blowing discoveries. Laughter, excitement, and curiosity filled the room as students learned that science can be both educational and entertaining.
Week 3 was about much more than traveling around the world—it was about building understanding, respect, and appreciation for different cultures and traditions. Our scholars learned that while people may live in different countries, speak different languages, and celebrate different customs, we all share the same world and can learn from one another.
Every activity encouraged students to think beyond their own experiences, embrace diversity, and become thoughtful global citizens prepared to make a positive impact wherever they go.
