โGrowing, Learning, Leading, and Succeeding Together!โ
What an exciting start to a new school year! The YES Program at Lakeview Academy is thrilled to welcome our new scholars and give a big WELCOME BACK to all of our returning scholars! ๐๐
Our first few weeks have been filled with new friendships, learning opportunities, routines, and lots of excitement. We are so happy to have your scholars as part of our YES family, and we look forward to an amazing school year!
A very special THANK YOU to all of our parents and families who attended our first Parent Meeting on August 17th! ๐ฅฐ Your participation and partnership are important to the success of our program and, most importantly, to the success of your scholar.
We are proud to share that our scholars have been doing a great job in class! ๐โจ
They are becoming familiar with our daily routines, participating in academic activities, building relationships with staff and peers, and learning what it means to be a successful YES scholar.
We want every scholar to leave YES each day feeling supported, encouraged, challenged, and proud of their accomplishments.
We ask that all parents/guardians take time to carefully read the YES Program Handbook. The handbook contains important information regarding attendance, transportation, behavior expectations, dismissal procedures, and other program policies.
Your partnership helps us provide a safe, structured, and successful program for everyone.
If your scholar is a car rider, please make sure that your driver's license number is included on the required transportation/sign-out form.
For your convenience, families may also digitally sign their scholars out using our electronic sign-out form:
๐ป Digital Scholar Sign-Out Form
6:00 PM โ 6:15 PM
Please make every effort to pick up your scholar during our regular dismissal window.
๐จ Early pick-up should be limited to emergencies or circumstances that cannot be avoided.
We want your scholar to receive the full benefit of the YES Program, including academic support, enrichment, social-emotional learning, and other activities taking place throughout the afternoon.
Regular attendance is extremely important!
Scholars are allowed to miss 10 days before being moved to the program's waiting list, in accordance with our program attendance expectations.
๐ Please make every effort to have your scholar attend YES consistently.
Every day provides another opportunity to learn, grow, connect, and succeed! ๐ฑ๐
Because our program is currently FULL, we have several scholars on our waiting list. We will continue to evaluate enrollment every two weeks and will add scholars when spaces become available.
๐ We are still accepting applications for the waiting list.
We are currently preparing for an exciting year of YES Enrichment Activities! ๐
Next week, scholars will have the opportunity to select three enrichment choices from the activities being offered.
Our goal is to provide enriching experiences that allow scholars to explore their interests, develop new skills, discover hidden talents, and have FUN while learning!
๐จ Creative Arts
๐ฌ STEM & STEAM
๐ฎ Games & Recreation
๐ค Performing Arts
๐ธ Media & Creativity
๐ฐ Financial Literacy
๐ Fitness & Wellness
โฆand MORE!
Stay tuned for the enrichment selection process!
Next week, our YES staff and scholars will participate in emergency preparedness drills.
We will practice procedures for:
๐ฅ Fire Drill
โ๏ธ Severe Weather Drill
๐จ Intruder Drill
These practices are important because we want every scholar and staff member to understand what to do during an emergency.
Our goal is to ensure that everyone can respond quickly, calmly, and safely.
Families, please take a few minutes to talk with your scholar about the importance of following adult directions during an emergency.
Safety is everyone's responsibility! ๐
At YES, we want every scholar to have the opportunity to learn, grow, make friends, participate in enrichment activities, and experience success.
We expect our scholars to demonstrate:
โจ Respect
โจ Responsibility
โจ Kindness
โจ Cooperation
โจ Self-Control
โจ Good Communication
โจ A Positive Attitude
We also want families to understand that certain behaviors will not be tolerated within our program, including:
๐ซ Disrespect toward staff or peers
๐ซ Repeated disruption of the learning environment
๐ซ Physical altercations
๐ซ Refusal to follow reasonable directions
๐ซ Other behaviors that interfere with the safety and learning of others
When a scholar demonstrates significant behavioral concerns, they may be required to meet with Ms. Smith, our Restorative Discipline Coordinator, to discuss the behavior, identify better choices, and develop strategies for success.
We believe in second chances, accountability, and growth! ๐
However, after three documented behavioral events, a scholar may be removed from the YES Program.
Our goal is never simply to discipline a scholar. Our goal is to teach, redirect, restore, and help our scholars make better choices.
Parents, please talk with your scholar regularly about the importance of making positive choices while attending YES.
Our daily schedule is designed to provide scholars with a balance of academic support, enrichment, and opportunities to build positive relationships. We encourage families to allow scholars to participate for the full program day so they can receive the full YES experience! ๐
