Academic Support

The YES Program at LVA will support student academic achievement using integrated learning platforms to improve pandemic-related learning loss for regularly participating students, categorized as those attending 30 days or more. In doing so, we anticipate that 60% of participating students will meet or exceed state standards or show academic growth in ELA/reading and math as evidenced by milestone scores and/or report card grades, iReady data, and attendance records. Our YES Staff use the platforms below to remediate,  accelerate, and to keep students on track academically. We offer small group tutoring so teachers can provide one-on-one assistance.

iReady is a connected learning system for assessment, instruction & support for grades K-8 in math and reading.  Grounded in best-practice instructional design, these tools provide rigorous and motivating reading and mathematics instruction that (1) Engages students of all levels and backgrounds (2) Motivates students to persist in skill building (3) Provides scaffolded support that meets the needs of all students (4) Creates personal learning pathways for each student in i-Ready Personalized Instruction and  (5)Connects to i-Ready Diagnostic data so teachers can make informed teaching decisions. Georgia educators can use i-Ready as an approved Gifted Identification Screener and i-Ready Assessment for Reading as a qualified dyslexia screening tool and universal reading screener. i-Ready is highly rated by the National Center on Intensive Intervention (NCII) and trusted by educators to deliver screening, progress monitoring, and benchmark assessments to more than 11 million students nationwide.

The YES Program will work with Baldwin Co School's K-5 Instructional Technology Specialist to better assess our student growth using iReady data. YES teachers will use the platform for remediation and/or acceleration beyond the classroom. The program includes target-based modules catered to the individual learning goals of our students.
