Success of softball

By Leah Krause

Since 2015, Badin Girls Varsity softball has succeeded in making it to the GGCL districts, sectionals and regionals. The coaches, Greg Stitzel, Jeff Gray, Matt Rains and Mary Enderle have all been part of what makes the varsity team work so well together. The coaches are the ones who help them to make it so far.

The team that no one talks about, the JV girls softball team, has also had a very successful few years. This in turn has helped to fuel the success of varsity.

The coaches for JV are Lizzy Miles, Colleen Monaghan and Kelsey Swartz. The head coach, Miles, has nothing but good things to say about the girls. “Even though they don't always show it, these girls have so much potential.”

All three of these young coaches played softball in high school. Coach Miles and Monaghan both played for Badin. Miles graduated in 2011, and was the starting catcher for varsity for 2 years. Monaghan was a valued player on both JV and varsity and graduated in 2013.

Even though they were not on the team when it went the furthest it has ever gone in the GGCL, these coaches still try their best to ensure that the players and teams continue to excel. The softball program here at Badin will continue to progress and go further as long as it has devoted coaches like these to help pass on the legacy.
