It’s that time of the year for the competitive scholars inside of our school. Deca’s district competitions are taking place on the 30th of January. For a lot of kids, this is the reason that they take a marketing class. It’s not just a chance to skip school, but a chance to make it to the national competitions in Atlanta, GA. Badin has a had a great reputation during the competition season, especially last year. We sent multiple students including Andrew Trotter, the second place president of our chapter.
We've picked out our events and many of us are more than prepared. It takes a lot of knowledge to place high up in these events. For example, a lot of the competitions have up to twenty other competitors, and only the top five get to go to the next round. Our competitions are also worth a grade, but for most kids this is an easy A+. The students that are sent always give 100% effort, and that's all that Badin DECA is about. According to Joe Deangelo, one of Badin’s DECA moderators, “I don't care if you don't win, I just want you to try. If you lose you lose.” On Tuesday, the people who are chosen will be in the running for state.
