After I went to Vegas for a soccer trip I saw many differences between the life in Las Vegas and Cincinnati. I grouped the many differences between the two cities into four main categories. Las Vegas is a great place to visit, but it’s nothing compared to our home city of Cincinnati.
Food
Las Vegas is a spectacular destination for many different types of food. Whether you’re on the strip or off the beaten path, there are restaurants everywhere. There are many restaurants created by famous chefs, including Guy Fieri and Gordon Ramsay. A very popular restaurant I went to was In-N-Out Burger. It’s a very popular chain restaurant on the West Coast that serves fresh burgers and fries. This was one of the quickest fast food places I had ever been to. The burgers were also very high quality and their french fries were made from fresh potatoes that add to the authenticity of the food. The food in Vegas is top notch. You can find some great restaurants there that you can’t find anywhere else!
Weather
Although it was the middle of March and almost spring time, the weather in Vegas was still not as warm as I would have thought. When it was warm in Cincinnati at sixty degrees, it was quite chilly in Vegas. The factor that made Vegas much more colder was the wind. Along with the wind, the sun was always out. In Cincinnati, it is much more cloudy and gloomy. The sun made it appear as though it was hot when you looked outside, but in reality the only thing the sun did was give me a sunburn!
Entertainment
There is a big difference in the entertainment worlds of these two cities. There is a ton of stuff to do in Vegas and it is all in close proximity. There is a lot to do in Cincinnati, but it is all spread out, and some of the activities might not be as interesting as the events in Vegas. Obviously, there is a ton of gambling and casinos. Some other options for younger people would include: zip lining, walking the strip, sightseeing, hiking, roller coasters, and even Top Golf. There are many little things to see and do in Vegas. Even just taking a drive can be entertaining!
Lifestyle
A big change from Cincinnati to Vegas would definitely be the time zones. Vegas is three hours behind, meaning that if it was eight in the morning in Cincinnati, in Vegas it would be five in the morning. Another big lifestyle difference from the two popular cities would be the grass. Since Nevada is mostly desert land, the ground is very dry and grass is hard to grow. If you look at any typical neighborhood in Las Vegas, no yard has grass. It’s all dried up and looks very weird. Las Vegas also has many palm trees, which are not a common sight here in Cincinnati.
