Blood Drive

Help Save a Life and Donate a Pint

By Ashlyn Hillman

Did you know that by donating one pint of blood you could save 3-4 lives, and in some cases even nine? Right now is your chance to save lives. Badin’s science department is holding their annual blood drive on April 20.

During this blood drive you will be served cookies and punch to help you after donating your blood. In order to make sure you aren’t a little drowsy or have low blood sugar, you will be will fed after you have given a pint. There will be certified people running the blood drive and they will make sure that everything runs smoothly.

However, there are some requirements that you have to meet in order to donate. You have to be at least 16 years old, have your parents permission, have a height of at least 5’4 and a minimum of 110 pounds. Also some baseball and softball players would not be able to participate due to their games against McNick on the same day.

Getting blood drawn sounds scary, but in reality is it very common and normal. Many students and staff members have had blood drawn. They’ve all described their procedure as painless and quick. In fact, many students are signing up to support their school and to help save lives. Just take your time to think about the benefits of what you can do by donating blood. Give it a chance, and help save a life.
