GCSE Religious Studies

The aim of Philosophy, Religion and Ethics is to develop wholesome individuals and critical thinkers who are enthusiastic and curious about the world we live in. Through learning from and about Hinduism, different religions, philosophical and ethical theories students will be empowered to ask and answer the ‘big’ questions of life.

OVERVIEW OF COURSE


GCSE Religious Studies covers two major world religions, Christianity and Hinduism, and four contemporary ethical themes ensuring our students have a diverse choice of intriguing subjects to explore.

Students will be challenged with questions about belief, values, meaning, purpose and truth, enabling them to develop their own attitudes towards religious issues.

Students will also gain an appreciation of how religion, philosophy and ethics form the basis of our culture. They will develop analytical and critical thinking skills, the ability to work with abstract ideas, leadership and research skills. All these skills will help prepare them for further study.
