Functional Skills

OVERVIEW

Functional Skills qualifications teach pupils knowledge and skills that are relevant to the workplace. The qualifications assess learners’ underpinning subject knowledge and their ability to apply this knowledge to different contexts. They provide a foundation for progression to employment and further technical education, and they help learners to develop skills for everyday life.

Functional skills are recommended for pupils that want to achieve additional qualifications in English, Maths and Science. These Level 1 & 2 courses also support the pupils with their studies at GCSE (Level 3) as they reinforce the learning of the core skills in these subject areas.
