TX State/AISD Intern Program
In partnership with Texas State University (TSU), Austin ISD will build leadership capacity for aspiring school leaders through the Educational Leadership Program at TSU and professional development that supports Austin ISD's core values and strategic priorities. Applications to apply for this opportunity typically open every other year in Early Spring - the next round will open in Spring 2023.
A two-year program that focuses on designing and analyzing collaborative campus-level reform efforts that are effective for diverse student populations while keeping issues of equity and ethics at the forefront of systemic planning.
Students can expect:
Rigorous interdisciplinary program based on principles of equity, justice, and culturally relevant pedagogy
People-oriented and change-focused—Learning through in-person cohorts, building long-term networks, facilitating personal and professional growth to be a change agent
Place-based pedagogy—Focused on praxis and community-engaged work through an ecological framing

Engaging school and community assets as the foundation for improvement efforts

Texas State cohort members will have full access to attend the Leadership Institute, a PASL preparation training, and all Assistant Principal professional development throughout the year
Austin ISD pays for required textbooks each semester. Austin ISD provides an Austin ISD campus facility to host evening classes so cohort members do not have to drive to the San Marcos or Round Rock campuses during the school year
