Persona 3 Reload: Atlus and SEGA have done it again!
Jacob Handal
Welcome to Gamer Zone, where we talk about the latest games and give you opinions on them. Today we’ll consider the latest Atlus game Persona 3 Reload. This game is a remake of the classic 2006 JRPG about some high schoolers who awaken to a special power. I won't go too in-depth in the story for spoilers, but I will talk about some of it, so here is your warning: SPOILERS!!!
The Story:
Would you believe me if I said that a day could consist of more than 24 hours? This game has a story unlike any other. It is about awakening to a special power called a Persona, and you use it to fight shadows in the Dark Hour. I’m going to say as little as I can because this is a game that everyone should experience for themselves.
Gameplay:
This game is a turn-based RPG: This means that you take turns with the enemy and the player in attacking. This kind of gameplay can seem a little daunting at first, but it is addicting, and it is easier than you think to get into. The further you go in the game and the more you level up, you gain new abilities for your Persona. The abilities you gain can be lightning, wind, fire, “holy,” or ice. But this is just half of the game; the other half consists of your school life and creating friendships and increasing your social points. This might sound boring, but trust me, it’s very fun.
"Tartarus":
Tartarus is the tower in the Dark Hour that you need to reach the top of before the game ends or else you will have to do it all in one day. If you don’t consistently go up floors in Tartarus, you won’t be able to defeat the monthly Full Moon (bosses). If you want the good ending, you are forced to reach the top. This is the part that, at first, I hated, but as long as you manage your school life with the Dark Hour, you should be good. Tartarus is 264 floors btw. Once you get used to Tartarus and its mechanics, it can be fun. Just don’t fall behind, because then you’ll have to grind a lot to reach the top.
Conclusion:
This game is a masterpiece, and if you think I'm overexaggerating, just play it. It’s a blast and can be very touching with its themes. The gameplay is great, the story is beyond great, Tartarus is just good.
