Welcome back, fellow eagles, to the place where you can find out about events happening in the football world! If you're into football, you’re in the right place! Allow me to introduce myself once again: My name is Luis Alfonso Lacayo, and you are reading AST's very own Football Feed. Today we're talking about Mbappe’s comeback for Real Madrid, Messi and Ronaldo's current performances, and Mohamed Salah’s dominance in all competitions.
If you would have told me in November that Mbappe would be considered in the top 5 of the ballon d’or this season in March, I would have called you delusional. Although this seemed impossible a couple months back, Mbappe has managed to overcome all the backlash and become one of the most versatile players for Real Madrid. He is still not as dominant as players like Salah, Raphinha, or even Dembele in their respective leagues, but he has managed to turn his season around. At the time of writing this article Mbappe has 28 goals and 4 assists in 41 appearances, which is really impressive considering that he was not even a striker last season. Not only this, but Mbappe now has more goals for Real Madrid (in only his debut season) than he had for Monaco FC. This is incredible considering that he played 3 years in Monaco and he hasn’t even played an entire season in Real Madrid.
It’s easy to say that most of us here started following football thanks to the dominance of Ronaldo and Messi. Now that they are no longer the best in the world, it is easy to say that they are in their last few years as professional football players. Although they are close to retirement, they have managed to retain great performances in their respective leagues. In all competitions (club and country) Ronaldo has 32 goals and 5 assists in 37 appearances, while Messi has 14 goals and 7 assists in 17 appearances. They are dominating the Saudi League and MLS even in their old age. Although, neither of them have been able to win the MLS or the Saudi Pro League. Comparing the two’s careers outside of Europe, Ronaldo has been better individually and Messi has been better in winning trophies.
Finally, the last topic we will be discussing will be one that you are probably already familiar with, if you have read my previous articles. It is the dominance of Mohamed Salah in the Premier League. Although Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League, that does not entirely mean that Salah’s ballon d’or chances are gone, may I still remind you that he is still the top-goal scorer and the top assister in the Premier League this season. Salah has a total of 32 goals and 22 assists in all competitions (in 42 games). That is 54 G+A in only 42 games, we have not had someone get these numbers since Messi and Ronaldo! Liverpool can still win the FA Cup and they are in the Carabao Cup Final. Not to mention, they have basically already won the Premier League this season, this means that they have the potential to win the domestic treble. Salah has been by far the best player for Liverpool this season and it is fair to say that without him they would have not gotten this successful.
In conclusion, Mbappe has returned to his best form while Messi and Ronaldo are still cooking things up in their old age. Not to mention Salah is also dominating the Premier League and also still has a chance to win the Ballon d’or.
