Gamer Zone: Is Spider-Man Remastered worth it?
Jacob Handal
Hello fellow gamers and welcome to the first ever Gamer Zone. Here we will talk about all the coolest and latest games that you guys want me to talk about. For our first game, I will talk about a little game I don’t know if you've heard about, it’s called Marvel’s Spider-Man. What am I saying, of course you've heard of it, the sequel is coming in just two months! Anyway, I'm going to go out of my way to tell you all about the game and my opinion about it, to get you guys hyped for the sequel.
Marvel’s Spider-Man as an action adventure game about well…Spider-Man! I will try to keep this spoiler free, although I might spoil a thing or two by accident. So let's start with the story, the story is by far the best story out of all the Spider-Man games, heck, in my opinion, better than some Spider-Man movies. It involves Spider-Man trying to stop Li from spreading the devil's breath, which is a failed cure made by mayor Osborn to cure his son, Harry, from the Venom sickness. But towards the end it becomes Spider-Man trying to stop Doctor Octavius and other Spider-Man villains like Electro, Scorpion, and Rhino from killing mayor Osborn. And no, Green Goblin is not in this game. Although you never know, he might be in the next one!
Now for the gameplay, the gameplay is some of the best gameplay I've ever seen in a video game. Firstly the web slinging makes you feel like you are Spider-Man, and it makes you want to get better and better at web slinging, once you beat the game you feel like a web slinging master! Now for the fighting is almost if not better than the web slinging, the fighting is satisfying, although it can get a bit repetitive at times. What makes up for this though is the skill points. Skill points are obtained by leveling up, with skill points you can upgrade and obtain skills which freshen up the movement. Once you obtain enough skills, you feel like a god that can demolish anything in your way. This would be a bad thing if it weren't for the bosses, which is what we are going to talk about next.
In this game there are bosses, now the bosses are really fun and can be defeated in different ways. Like with Rhino's boss fight, you try to get him to a specific place so you can hit him, but, the problem is most of these bosses will appear towards the end of the game. The only two bosses you fight in the first 50% of the game are Kingpin and Shocker. After that, you fight more than 5 boss fights. By the end of the game, you will find yourself pressing buttons very quickly and with lots of precision.
Now the progression of this game is nothing really special, you usually just go to the mission, get it done, and then go to the next. But in my opinion, I did not want anything complicated. I feel that would’ve made the game not as enjoyable for me. Although there are side missions and collectables, the collectables include backpacks, landmarks, and research tokens. The side missions are nothing special either. Although the suits are pretty cool.
So my conclusion is that… Well what are you still standing here, go get it! This game is one of, if not the best games I've ever played. It is fun, enjoyable, and does not get repetitive. Now, should you buy the remastered version or the regular version? I would say you should get the remastered version because of its compatibility and the amount of features it gives you, but honestly that's just my preference. Thank you for reading the first episode of Gamer Zone! Jacob, out!
